Unstoppable (2010)

I never saw this movie in the theatre.  I have to wonder how many people did.  Cause let’s face it, how many of us find trains very exciting?  An action story about a runaway train never excited me personally.  So I let my DVR record this one on cable and I was quite surprised, it’s… Read More »

Arena (2011)

When deciding what movies to watch, one thing you can take to the bank, seeing Samuel L. Jackson’s name in the cast list is no indication of a good or bad movie.  He’s been in some really good movies and has been part of some real stinkers.  And this movie is one of the later. … Read More »

Dorian Grey (2009)

If you don’t know the gist of the storey of Dorian Grey, then this isn’t the place to educate you.  It’s a classic tale. I’m not an expert on the storey or it’s history, but it seemed to me to have some original twists on the classic version.  It’s far from a mainstream movie, so… Read More »

Final Destination 5 (2011)

A group of young people survive an accident and escaped fate.  So fate comes after them to finish them off.  You can’t out run fate forever. Can you believe we are at number 5 of the Final Destination remakes.  It’s the same old theme, nothing new or different.  Just fun with killing characters off in… Read More »

Never Back Down 2 – The Beat Down (2011)

Not much can be said about this one, it’s about young good looking guys beating each other, in and out of the ring.  It’s neither great or all that bad, as well as not being real deep. The lead is played by Dean Geyer, who can currently be seen in the TV series Terra Nova. … Read More »

Horrible Bosses (2011)

A comedy of three friends, each with an over the top horrible boss.  Who hasn’t had a horrible boss at one point in your life?  But you probably didn’t plan to kill them.  Well here you can live the dream vicariously though the movie characters. A good old style fast moving comedy. 7/10

Fright Night (2011)

Anyone old enought to have seen the original Fright Night movie in the 80’s will likely enjoy this remake.  The original was excellent in it’s time and is arguably a classic.  Modernized and I think a little less tongue-in-cheek, it basically has most of the same feel and combination of qualities of the first; light… Read More »

Cowboys and Aliens (2011)

Not the cowboys and indians movie you may have grown up with.  This is much more politically correct.  The minority to be picked on here are the aliens.  Infact, the old moral of “why can’t everyone just get along” comes into play.  The cowboys and indians make nice and gang up on the poor little… Read More »

Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon

Unlike sequel number 2, this continuation hits the spot.  Be prepared for two and a half hours mind you.  But other than the first half hour or so, which drags out way too long, this is a fun action packed ride.  Definitely an enjoyable action movie. I couldn’t help but notice that all the machine… Read More »

Green Lantern (2011)

Considering all the hype about this movie, and seeing pre-release trailers long in advance of it’s debut, I was shocked at how poor this movie turned out to be. I was not familiar with this comic book hero, assuming it is actually based on a comic book, so I can’t compare it to the original… Read More »
